Allied Health
The Allied Health Program at Adams County Technical Institute offers a unique experience into all facets of healthcare, preparing students for success in an allied health career. Students are immersed in medical terminology, learning the different body systems and related diseases, and proper techniques to use in our state-of-the-art laboratory. The lab is set up like a hospital room to learn proper techniques in healthcare such as gloving and gowning, proper handwashing, patient transfer, dental hygiene and taking vital signs.
Students learn from healthcare professionals through field trips, classroom presentations, and job-shadowing experiences. Orientation to essential skills in the clinical setting is reinforced in laboratory sessions. Career exploration, continuing education, interviewing techniques, resume writing, networking and job searching are all integrated into the curriculum.
